Project Runway Season 11 Shockers! Zac Posen Replaces Judge Michael Kors, Designers Compete as Teams
Tim Gunn, we need to borrow your "concerned" face!
We're not sure how Project Runway can make it work without Michael Kors. He is the black-clad jelly to Nina Garcia's peanut butter, sandwiched between Heidi Klum and whatever guest judge they find. Now the recipe will be different. Like, Season 6 different. That was not fun.
Project Runway Season 11 starts January 24, 2013. According to Access Hollywood, designer Zac Posen will replace MK, who will still come back as a guest judge for the Season 11 finale. (His schedule reportedly didn't allow him to commit to the whole season.)
Another twist is that the 16 designers of Season 11 will compete as teams of two, instead of as individuals.
"You can imagine the designers’ reactions when we first told them," Heidi said, "but it resulted in some really interesting conflicts and partnerships. And that is how designers work in the real world — they do have to work on teams and manage teams — you get to understand their personalities more."
This could be tragic. You know how much the designers hate working in teams — and even though they often produce great drama, they rarely produce great designs. So to have the contestants in teams for the bulk, or all, of the season? Eek. Will they still pick an individual winner?
On the upside, E! News reports that guest judges for the season will include Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Joan and Melissa Rivers, Emmy Rossum, and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, among others.
