The X Factor

Carly Rose Sonenclar’s “Feeling Good” — Which Performance Was Better?

A great first impression is something you just can’t buy, or duplicate. So, when The X Factor asked contestants to perform a song they had previously sung this season, it was a little tough for us to process. But we remember the first time Carly Rose Sonenclar took the stage, all darling in her cut-off jorts (that’s jean shorts, for you olds), band-leader looking vest, and sandals.

The 13-year-old singer took us by storm with her cover of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” at her first audition, and we have never forgotten it. The judges looked worried as she started singing, perhaps because they were afraid that a girl as tiny and young-looking as Carly Rose could handle such a sophisticated song. But “handle” would be an understatement — she made it her b****.

When she performed the song again on the Season 2 finale, as the first of her three performances, she set the stage for the evening. It’s clear to us that Carly Rose came to win, and although we know she will have an incredible career no matter what the outcome on the December 20 finale, we have to wonder if this performance might just seal the deal for her.

What do you think, guys. Was her finale performance the best ever, or do you think she was tops when she stepped onstage the first time?
