Fifth Harmony’s “Anything Could Happen” — Was the Second Time the Charm?
Fifth Harmony was the underdog act coming into the finale — just ask anyone, including their mentor, Simon Cowell. But although the girls were somewhat of a surprise act to make it to the Top 3, they definitely earned their spot there.
On the semi-finals episode last week, the five girls sang Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen,” a choice Lauren Jauregui made that changed everything. At first, we thought we were watching something out of a Tim Burton movie. An Alice in Wonderland meets Claire’s Accessories acid trip of a performance. We were less shocked by Camila’s insane bow than we were by the simple fact that we LOVED IT.
So, when the girls were asked to perform one of their favorite songs of the season, it was an easy choice to do this one again. Although their fellow competitors chose their audition songs to repeat, perhaps to show the progress they’ve made in the past three months, the girls didn’t have that option available to them. Why? Well, they didn’t audition together. If you recall, they each auditioned as solo artists, and were put together by Simon before Judges’ Houses. Somehow they continue to shine within their group, and we’re so glad they sing together.
Although the two performances were similar in so many ways, we wonder which one you liked better. Was the first time the “magical” experience Britney Spears called it, or is the second time the most charming?
