LeAnn Rimes Denies Being Drunk During Her X Factor Performance
Was LeAnn Rimes drunk during her performance on The X Factor on December 19th, as some publications have been wondering? Not so, LeAnn says.
The country star told TMZ that she was not under the influence when she performed a duet of her hit "How Do I Live" with Carly Rose Sonenclar on the show. She reportedly doesn't know why anyone would think that.
As for any awkwardness that critics have pointed out about her performance? "I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song," LeAnn said.
LeAnn's lawyer, Larry Stein, backs up LeAnn's story to TMZ, saying, "LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform because she was on stage with a young girl."
"There have been a lot of untrue things said by others, and it feeds into this sort of thing," Larry explains.
The Huffington Post called LeAnn's performance "uneven and uncomfortable," and continued by saying, "Rimes even gripped onto Sonenclar during the performance. Her voice didn't seem to have its usual strength, leading some fans to speculate online that she might have been drinking."
The Daily Mail thought LeAnn was trying to upstage Carly, while Hollywood Life went a step further and referred to LeAnn as "one big, hot mess."
TMZ informed LeAnn's lawyer of a rumor that LeAnn, while backstage, had "made a plate of food backstage and spilled it everywhere," but her lawyer wasn't aware of that.
We're just glad that any issues in the performance seem to be a result of nerves from two people who weren't used to performing together, as opposed to anything else!
