Vampire Diaries Season 4 Speculation: Is the Cure For Vampirism a Hoax?
Every Vampire Diaries puzzle is complicated. We know that. But curing vampirism?! Is that even possible? We’re not so sure... and here’s why:
First we learn about the brotherhood of the five, but even super hot men with complete tattoos and a sword that is the key to it all never made their way to the cure. Sure, Klaus killed them before they were able to make the journey, but that doesn’t change the fact that they never found this supposed “cure.”
Flash forward to now: It’s more than a thousand years later, and no hunter in history has been successful? We love our Mystic Falls crew, but do we really expect them to solve a puzzle that no hunter has been able to solve since 1110 A.D.?
Then there’s this whole Silas thing. According to the very attractive Professor Shane, there’s no need for a sword — finding Silas equals finding the cure to immortality. But are vampirism and immortality one in the same? There was more than one ingredient in Esther’s vampirism spell, so perhaps the two are merely related?
Now, say that a cure does exist. How many people can take it? Surely it can’t change the entire vampire population. Would it even work on hybrids? Somehow, we’re betting that Klaus is destined to be supernatural forever.
Finally, if the cure is real, who would take it? Every character, at some point, has wished for their humanity, whether they were listening to the quickening heartbeat of a hummingbird or lying drunk in the middle of a road. But at the end of the day, would any of them actually go through with it? As much as we’d love to know the answer to that question, we’re still not sure this “cure” is out there... with or without big bad Silas.
