Vampire Diaries Season 4 Question: Why Can’t April Be Compelled?

It looks as if April (Grace Phipps) is caught in a vampy predicament, especially after what she saw in Episode 9 of Season 4. Which leads us to today’s Vampire Diaries question: Why can't April be compelled?

You may recall that during the Winter Wonderland Party, April stumbles upon an unconscious Caroline (Candice Accola) in the bathroom. When she manages to wake the blond vamp up, she hears something rather unusual. That’s because Caroline feels free to go off on a tangent in front of April — one that involves blabbing to Stefan (Paul Wesley) about the whereabouts of Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) body, werewolves and all things vampire. She feels safe in doing that because, well, she knows she can compel April into forgetting everything she just heard.

Only she can’t. In fact, April remembers everything so clearly that she manages to wander down to the dungeon and find Rebekah’s body, just as Caroline detailed.

What makes April so special that she can withstand compulsion? How about the fact that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) gave April his vervain bracelet so that she can’t be compelled. We guess Caroline didn’t get that memo...

That’s one powerful piece of jewelry! Let’s just hope, for April’s sake, that it doesn’t get her killed.
