Once Upon a Time Season 2 Spoilers: What’s Coming Up For Charming?

One of the unexpected pleasures of Once Upon a Time Season 2 has been watching David Nolan/Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) flourish as a character while separated from his wife and daughter for the first half of the season — but that doesn't mean we aren't equally eager to see the Charming family intact at last.

So what's coming up for Charming when the show returns in January? TVLine recently caught up with Josh Dallas, who spilled a bit about what we can expect from his character.

A happy couple? If you're hoping for some happily ever after time between Mary Margaret/Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and David/Charming, you might be in luck... at least for a little while. Josh warns that "with all great, epic love stories, there are always obstacles thrown in front of the lovers, all of the time — and particularly with our show," but also hints that now that Snow and Charming are both back in Storybrooke, "there is time to breathe and think about where they are, who they are, what their relationship was and what it can be now, where they belong."

Hmmm. That sounds to us like it might be connected to the hints that Charming wants to return to Fairytale Land.

A "thing" that happens. Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison have hinted that something new and bad is coming up for the Charmings, and Josh does the same here, saying, "[B]esides Cora [Barbara Hershey] and Hook [Colin O’Donoghue] showing up, we have something else that’s happening that needs the family’s attention." Hmmm. Why does it need the Charmings' attention in particular? Could it have to do with Neal? (Could it be that Neal is Baelfire?)

Charming's past. Josh promises we'll see more about Charming's past, but "much later in the season."
