Phaedra Parks Opens Up About Recent Deaths in Her Family

Earlier this month, Phaedra Parks tweeted about a death in her family, and in her first blog in several weeks, the H’wife explains her family’s recent profound losses.

She writes, “In early November my grandmother became ill and I chose to direct all of my energy and focused on caring for her and supporting my mother. Unfortunately, on November 25 my dear grandmother passed away.”

And after springing into “funeral mode” (she is a funeral pro, after all), Phaedra and her family were dealt another devastating blow. “As we were returning home from my grandmother's obsequies, we learned that Apollo's grandmother passed away,” she reveals. “So, we have been very busy caring for our families and managing the tender moments of loss and grief.”

While the grief is still very new and raw, Phaedra is also taking this difficult time to reflect on what an extraordinary woman her grandmother was.

“My grandmother was my inspiration and graced the Earth for 95 years – what a blessing! She was vibrant, courageous, and very outspoken,” she says. “I am proud to have known her. It was her example and life that gave me the courage to always strive for excellence.”

Thankfully, Phaedra and Apollo have been able to rely on some of their RHoA co-stars as they cope with their loses. Phaedra notes that she has received help and kind wishes from many people, but she especially thanks “Kandi, NeNe, Cynthia and her lovely mother and daughter Noelle for their kind deeds and comforting words during our time of bereavement.”

Our thoughts are with Phaedra during this difficult time and we encourage you all to leave your own thoughts and prayers in the comments.
