Anne Hathaway’s Les Miz Director Told Her She Was Losing Too Much Weight For the Film

If you think Anne Hathway looks ridiculously skinny in the film adaptation of Les Miserables, you're not the only one.

Anne lost 25 pounds off of her already-lean frame to play Fantine in the movie version that was released in theaters over Christmas, but the film's director, Tom Hooper, thought she was going overboard with her weight-loss regimen.

"To be honest, I thought she was going further than she should, and I tried to discourage her," Tom tells the Los Angeles Times. Come to think of it, it's not often that people in Hollywood try to discourage the talent from losing weight!

Anne confirms that Tom didn't approve of how skinny she was getting to play the dying prostitute, and that he tried to get her to stop.

"Tom didn't like what I was doing, but he understood why I was doing it," Anne adds. "No one liked what I was doing. By the end, people were hugging me and they would get emotional because I felt so frail."

Anne has previously said that she worked out like crazy for the role and was "living on hummus and radishes." Yum...
