In memory of such a sculpted, attractive man, we wanted to round up our favorite Mark moments. When it comes to choosing his best moments, it’s very difficult not to write a novel describing every second he was on screen. But somehow we’ve narrowed it down to ten:
His entrance: From hitting on Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) to stitching up his own face after being punched by Derek, Mark’s introduction to Seattle Grace was, well, steamy.
The towel: Need we say more?
Sitting with Derek: After Meredith drowned, Derek was left to sit in the hallway by himself and contemplate life without his true love. It was in that moment that his best friend knew exactly what he needed: someone to keep him company.
He came back for Derek: Turns out, Mark’s trip to Seattle wasn’t about Addison (Kate Walsh) at all. And his confession of that very fact turned out to be one of our favorite Derek-Mark bromance moments of all time. As Mark put it: “I didn't come to Seattle for Addison. I didn't come to Seattle to be chief. I came to Seattle for you. Okay? I came to Seattle to get you back.”
Fatherhood: First, there was Mark’s heartbreak over his non-baby with Addison, then we had his happiness about being a grandfather when Sloan showed up, and of course, baby Sophia proved to be the apple of his eye. Mark’s love of babies gave us more great moments than we can count.
Saving Alex (Justin Chambers): Not only was saving Alex’s life during the hospital shooting heroic, but he did it all while his heart broke over Lexie’s confession of love … for Alex.
Walk tall, Torres: Mark and Callie had our favorite friendship on the show. He was always there for her, and any day she was feeling down, he was there to give her a pep talk. Our favorite? "All you can do is be brave enough to get out there. You fought, you loved, you lost. Walk tall Torres…”
You could have a husband: When Mark confessed his love to Lexie, she claimed that she was happy with Alex, her boyfriend. But Mark had the perfect response: “All I'm saying is that you could have a husband.” And a hot husband at that.
Final speech to Lexie: "I love you. I've always been in love with you. I will always be in love with you... which is why you have to stay alive. We're gonna get married. And you're gonna make an amazing surgeon. And we're gonna have two or three kids [...] We're gonna be happy, Lex, you and me. We're gonna have the best life, Lex, you and me. So you can't die, okay? Because we're supposed to end up together. We're meant to be."
The wedding video: After a sweet speech to Callie and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) about their love, Mark confessed that his lifelong dance partner was Lexie Grey. Now, we like to imagine that they’re dancing in heaven. Sigh.
What was your favorite Mark Sloan moment?
