The Voice Season 4: How Many Contestants Will Be on Each Team?
Between Sept. 10 and Dec. 18, 2012, The Voicewent from 64 contestants to one winner. It was a time-consuming process that often resulted in performances being cut down into montage format, and disgruntled contestants.
In Season 3 each of the four teams started with 16 contestants, resulting in a grand total of 64 competitors. So when Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with coach Adam Levine at a press conference in New York City, we had to ask him about the size of the teams next season.
In Season 4, things will be a bit simpler. The teams will consist of 12 contestants each once the Battle Rounds are complete, making for a total of 48 aspiring singers.
“Sixteen is ridiculous,” Adam admitted. “It’s very hard to find anybody that’s an amazing singer, but 16 people, I think that it was a bit overwhelming for the coaches and even for the audience. It was just a lot. It was almost too much to process. So we’re back to 12 now and I think that’s a better number. That works for everyone.”
