Glee’s Becca Tobin Reveals Her “Mean Girl” Inspiration

Becca Tobin’s Glee character, Kitty, is so delightfully mean, it’s sometimes hard to believe she’s such a sweetheart in real life. So where does Becca find her inspiration for the barb-tongued cheerleader she portrays on-screen?

While she certainly draws from her experience being bullied in high school, having an older sibling definitely helps, too! Becca tells her hometown paper, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, “I have an older sister. No one brings out the mean girl in me like she did when I was younger. We’re best of friends now, but I kind of draw on those memories.”

Sounds like acting could be great therapy for working out your childhood issues! Actually, Becca’s family life sounds far from traumatic. Despite coming from a family of attorneys, she was encouraged to pursue her acting dream. “They really embraced my differences and really cultivated the passion. They put me in classes, singing lessons, acting camp. They were so supportive.”
