How to Get a Handle on Toy Excess After the Holidays

After the holidays, your house probably looks more like Toy “R” Us than the store itself. So where the h-e-double hockey sticks are you going to put all that stuff? Circle of Moms has some great mom-approved ideas that will help you organize and sort your kids’ toys so you can save your sanity. Now, that’s a good gift for the whole family! Here are our favorite tips:

Store toys. Almost any mom will tell you that rotating toys is a fantastic way to cut down on playtime clutter. By bringing out a certain amount of toys at one time, and keeping the rest in storage, toys seem new all over again.

Organize toys. Sort toys by type, gender, age group — whatever makes the most sense to you — and make piles. Toss the piles into labeled storage bins so you can finally see the floor of your toy room, basement, or wherever the toys tend to dominate your living space.
