The Voice Season 4 Coaches: Watch Out For the “Pregnant, Hormonal Columbian”

The Voice Season 3 ended less than a month ago, but Season 4’s already gearing up to be the best one yet. Though we will certainly miss Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green when they take their leave of absence from the show, it’s time to embrace Shakira and Usher in the big red chairs.

And from the early reports we’ve heard, Shakira and Usher are definitely up for the challenge.

"I would say the competitiveness is up," NBC producer Mark Burnett told Rolling Stone. "We've replaced Cee Lo with somebody that's just that much more aggressive. And Christina [Aguilera] was always competitive, [but] now you've got four that are just killers up here."

Can Shakira compete with Christina and her “girls,” though?

"You have a pregnant, hormonal Colombian," Mark said. "She's ready to bust some heads. She ain't messing around."

Yikes! Shakira was more than six months pregnant when she filmed the blind auditions and battle rounds. The show will return on March 25, 2013, and by the time we reach the live shows, Shakira will have a bouncing baby boy with a voice of his own.

But don’t get it twisted — upcoming motherhood hasn’t turned her into a softie.

"There's a lot of competitiveness, of course,” Shakira said. “Once we are in the process of trying to get a contestant recruited for our team, there's a lot of adrenaline, and there's a lot of tension, but the healthy kind."

While Shakira didn’t spill all of her strategic details, Usher wasn’t shy at all about his blind auditions strategy.

"My style is more military than anything, because I'm all about the preparation and have always been,” Usher said. “I rehearse a million times to be prepared. My style is to make them understand the seriousness of the craft and that they have the very best opportunity to be the greatest or the worst, depending on how you take it."

Basically, it’s going to be an interesting season. Are you excited for Usher and Shakira to be coaches? Weigh in below!
