Phillip Phillips’s Debut Is One Of the Fastest Selling American Idol Albums
The slogan for this season of American Idol is “Others dream, Idol delivers.” It may sound arrogant but, when one considers the rousing success of Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, it’s not all that outrageous.
His debut effort, The World From the Side of the Moon, is now the fastest-selling Idol album since Season 7’s David Cook sold 478,000 copies of his self-titled debut back in 2008. As Billboard reports, P2’s album has sold 475,000 copies in its first five weeks in stores.
The album has also spent its first five weeks in the Top 10 on the charts, which is the longest stretch since Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts spent 12 weeks in the Top 10.
Currently opening up for Matchbox Twenty and with plans to headline his own tour shortly thereafter, Phillip isn’t showing any signs of slowing down his skyrocketing career.
Do you think he’ll be the most successful American Idol alum?
