Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars Burning Question: Who Set the Fire?

It isn’t a normal day in Rosewood until someone in the Pretty Little Liars universe faces death. It’s one of the reasons we love the place, and it’s also one of the reasons we would never want to live there. However, in the Season 3 winter premiere (Season 3, Episode 14: “She’s Better Now”), it wasn’t the Liars who had to fight for their lives. This time, it was Byron’s (Chad Lowe) ex-mistress, Meredith (Amanda Schull).

But who lured Meredith away to then set the building she was in on fire? Despite Byron’s beliefs, we really don’t think it was one of the Liars. And based on the evil glance Mona (Janel Parrish) gave Meredith just a few scenes before the fire, we’re leaning more in her general direction.

However, even if the fire was Mona’s idea, was she the one who actually set it, or did she get some help from her partner in crime? While watching the episode, Keegan Allen (Toby Cavanaugh) tweeted, “Who do you think Set that Fire? ;)” Is that a hint that it was Toby who lit the match?

Let’s look at this from another angle: What if it wasn’t anyone from the “A” team? At the end of the day, the “A” team was formed for one reason and one reason only: To destroy the Liars’ lives. So why try to get rid of one of their enemies?

We’re very suspicious of the fact that Meredith gave Byron the note (which wasn’t burnt?) and claimed that she thought one of the Liars did it. Was this all Meredith’s plan to turn Byron against his daughter? Perhaps she knew she’d survive the whole time?

The last option is either someone random, Byron (which we doubt) or another of the “A” team’s minions. Could Jason (Drew Van Acker) have gotten injured while starting the fire? And where was Lucas (Brendan Robinson) during this debacle? Oh, and let’s not forget the creepy janitor (aka the old motel clerk). He could’ve easily been in on the plan.

Who do you think set the fire that burned Meredith?
