Real Housewives of New York

Bethenny Frankel Opens Up About Her Divorce (VIDEO)

Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel put on a brave albeit teary-eyed face when she appeared on Ellen this Wednesday (January 9), where she opened up about her pending divorce from husband Jason Hoppy. During the extremely emotional interview, she let it all come out.

First, she explained her reason for coming onto the show, saying “I can’t only be on a reality TV and show when it’s the fairy princess fairy tale and then not take my hits when I have to. I mean, I’ve had kind of the best worst year ever. The highs and the lows.”

Then, through sobs, she said that she worries she’s become a “disappointment” to her fans. “I feel like a failure … I really put it out there. I wanted the fairy tale, and I thought I had it. Bryn is my fairy tale.”

Bethenny went on to report receiving fan mail of both the supportive and demoralizing sort, with some letters saying that her divorce is making them question their beliefs in love as a whole.

To that, she answered, “Love is everywhere … It’s the road, and you’re on it, and it has peaks and valleys. That’s what it is. I don’t know how people go through this. This is excruciating, I have to say.”

I wanted to rip the Band-Aid off so it could start to heal,” she added. “This will obviously be better. I’m scared of the unknown future you know everything and then one day you don’t know and so I’m scared. I’m older. And I want to be able to say to people, it’s about what I do now … It’s about how I handle this. It’s about grace and dignity. This is the time that matters.”

Before concluding her discussion of the issue, Bethenny made sure to address at least one rumor of the bunch.

“A lot of people say I chose business over love, which couldn’t be farther from the truth,” she said (though she does think her talk show will help lift her spirits and give her all new avenues of relief.)

In all, it was a very emotional and revelatory appearance. Hang in there, Bethenny!
