Jennifer Lawrence Paid $100,000 to Wear Jewelry to Golden Globes: Report
Because rich celebs don’t get enough free swag at awards shows, the New York Post says many brands pay actresses big bucks to wear their jewelry.
"This is the industry’s dirty little secret," a jewelry insider told the site. "There are hundreds of thousands of dollars spent. It’s really aggressive." This unnamed source says Jennifer Lawrence, a Golden Globe nominee for Silver Linings Playbook, is getting $100,000 from Chopard to wear its jewels to tonight's show. The Post also heard Bulgari is spending $500,000 for celebs, including Julianne Moore, to wear its brand.
It’s one thing to get to wear the jewels for free, then return them after the show, but to be paid six figures to advertise them on the red carpet? Talk about easy money! But maybe it is too good to be true. A source close to Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow denied other figures quoted for how much they were paid to wear jewels to last year's Oscars.
Stars never really like to talk about what they’re paid or the freebies they get — especially when they’re on the red carpet to celebrate their artistic achievements, not endorsement achievements. We're supposed to believe it's all for the "craft" or they are just normal folks like the rest of us.
