Jodie Foster Clears Up Golden Globes Speech Confusion: “No, I’m Not Retiring”

It was a big, memorable, stirring speech, but it wasn't always clear what Jodie Foster was announcing at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.

She came out, and yet
didn't — since she said she did that "a thousand years ago." It also sounded at one point like she was retiring from acting. Is that what she meant to say?

"No, I am not retiring," Jodie told reporters backstage (The Hollywood Reporter). “I could never stop acting. You’d have to drag me with wild horses."

She said she was just trying to say that her work is "evolving," and she used the Cecil B. DeMille Award as a kind of graduation commencement speech where she examined the patterns of her career. But she's more fired up than ever to get back to work in the industry. Go, Jodie, go!
