Castle Review: What Did You Think of Season 5, Episode 11: “Under the Influence”?
Tonight's all-new episode of Castle didn't miss a beat! Unfortunately, the same can't be said for poor Holly Rhodes …
Season 5, Episode 11, "Under the Influence" took our beloved detective and her mystery writer boyfriend to the center of New York City's music scene after Holly, aka DJ Beat, was found murdered. But it wasn't Castle and Beckett who took the lead on this case — it was none other than Detective Esposito, who dropped some major truth bombs about his past.
Before he was a police officer, Javi was on the other side of the law, much like Holly's troubled assistant Joey. But he pulled himself up by the bootstraps, joined the army, and eventually became one of NYC's most successful homicide detectives. And to top it all off, the guy's got a heart of gold. OK, now we understand what Lanie Parish sees in him! Well, aside from his terrible taste in furniture.
By the end of the episode, we learn that Holly's murder wasn't the handiwork of a troubled kid with a criminal record — in a surprising twist, it was brunette beauty Regina Cane, a fading pop star on the brink of extinction.
Guess it's true what they say — you can't judge a book by its cover. Well, unless it's Rick Castle. In the words of MC Thug, nothing says "I'm not a cop" quite like fancy shirts and poofy hair.
