Who Won Project Runway All Stars Season 2: Uli, Anthony Ryan, or Emilio?
*SPOILERS AHEAD* Stop reading if you don't want to know the results of the All Stars finale, which aired Thursday, January 17 on Lifetime.
Anthony Ryan Auld (Season 9) won a record five challenges during Project Runway All Stars Season 2, and he ultimately won the whole season. His finale collection, called "The Thin Line," floored the judges, especially Isaac Mizrahi, who called AR’s opening look "the best dress I think I've ever seen on Project Runway." Second place went to Emilio Sosa (Season 7) and his collection, called "Urban Plantation." Uli Herzner (Season 3) and "Mystical Winter" took third.
Here are some notes on the final collections, which the designers only had four days to create.
Anthony Ryan: Isaac called Anthony Ryan's opening look "the best dress I think I've ever seen on Project Runway." Guest judge Liv Tyler called it "so sexy." Isaac was also jealous of how AR used pockets in one area, but he didn’t like the lengths of the dresses. Georgina Chapman was let down by his finale look.
Emilio: Isaac said he was surprised by how much he loved Emilio’s collection. Emilio showed a strong point of view but the judges said he goes wrong when he goes junior. Mondo Guerra, who won All Stars Season 1, was shown singling out this collection as a favorite. They both love bright colors! Guest judge Margherita Missoni wasn’t wowed by the collection.
Uli: Margherita loved the fairy tale quality of Uli's collection, and the models’s hair and makeup. Liv Tyler loved Uli's dress, calling it an "Oscar dress." Georgina thought Uli relied a lot on fake furs and they looked inexpensive to her. But the judges responded to her collection on an emotional level.
We were Team Uli all season so it was a little disappointing to see her lose, but not that surprising. Anthony Ryan pretty much owned this season — the judges all seemed to want to marry him. His finale collection was amazing and cohesive. And good for him for defeating two runners-up, when he never made it to the finals on his first season. He was seventh!
