Gin and toxic! In Season 3, Episode 10 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, we met some mannequins who have a higher sex drive than Lisa Vanderpump. We also learned to stay away from tall people, stop slouching, and to never forget to say hello to your future grandchildren!
One Man Calls Another Man a Typical Man — Got That?
The episode, “Home Is Where the Art Is,” picks up with last week’s Moroccan restaurant melee. Kyle Richards tells Mauricio to stop arguing with Brandi Glanville, so he and Brandi finally cool it. But things weren’t quiet for long: Taylor Armstrong announces that she’s had things much worse than everyone else, so Yolanda Foster decides that she’s “talking nonsense.” Sounds like the makings of a new feud.
Brandi, Yolanda, and Lisa slink off to the bathroom, where Brandi admits that she goes crazy when attacked. No arguments here. Back at the table, Kim Richards says Brandi is sweet but has a side that’s “not right,” at which point Mauricio says this is the first time he’s agreed with Kim in 10 years. It’s always good to find a silver lining.
Brandi emerges from the bathroom and decides to call it a night. Mauricio tries to make nice with her before she leaves and admits there are aspects to Brandi and Adrienne Maloof’s situation that he doesn’t know about; Ken calls him a “typical man.” Uh, you do realize you’re a man, too — right, Ken?
Mauricio and Kyle later meet up with Paul and Adrienne for drinks, although Paul isn’t impressed with their single malt scotch, which is a very nice thing to say when you’re a guest. Kyle feels badly about the skirmish at Mauricio’s event, but Adrienne sounds ready to put the event behind them, and says that Brandi can apologize to her privately.
Kim’s a Grandma! Sorta!
Kim meets up with her psychic, Rebecca, because she senses spirits in her bedroom. The psychic confirms there are spirits in the form of her soon-to-be-born grandchildren, and that her home is also a portal to the spirit world. Kim then says she hopes that no crazy people enter her home. Wait — you mean no crazy people besides Rebecca?
Yolanda and her girls meet up with her ex-husband Mohamed to show him the home she’s decorated. And we certainly got a kick out of Yolanda and her family dynamic, as Mohamed gets on his daughter Gigi for slouching, and then Yolanda literally gets on Gigi to get a piggy back ride across the lawn. How come no one ever offers to give us a piggy back ride?
Kyle is opening a branch of her favorite Boca Raton fashion boutique, so she and Faye Resnick go mannequin shopping, which somehow turns into an assessment of which mannequin has the best boobs. But who doesn’t spend a day checking out a mannequin’s boobs from time to time? We also see Kyle get on the floor to mimic a risqué mannequin pose because, well, this is Kyle we’re talking about. ‘Nuff said.
Brandi and Marisa Zanuck meet up for dinner with Marisa husband, Dean, and her brother, Paul. Dean seems like a total sweetheart, but Brandi is bothered that Marisa goes on about how she just isn’t that into him. And here we thought we’d never see a couple whose restaurant outings are as awkward as Adrienne and Paul’s, but Marisa and Dean prove us wrong.
Midnight with Paris
The ladies are all getting dolled up for a gallery opening at their friend Daniel’s gallery. Yolanda sees a painting that she likes, so she and Daniel haggle over it, and she talks him down from $14,000 to $8,000. Nicely done, Yolanda! Of course, why Yolanda finds a painting to be romantic that features two faceless figures that aren’t looking at each other, we’ll never know.
Next, Ken takes a pic with women who are all roughly seven feet taller than he is (more or less). Then, it’s a RHoBH first as Paris Hilton pops by! She tells her Aunt Kyle that she’s singing in Brazil next week, where J.Lo is opening for her. Even Kyle was surprised.
Luckily, there’s no major argument at this event, but we do get a bit of tension, with Marisa telling Taylor that she should have waited to marry Dean. Ouch. Then, Mauricio tries to give Ken a bottle of gin, but Ken mocks his use of the word “amazing” and seems reluctant to accept the gift. (Free gin? We’ll take it!)
Lisa comes over to tell Ken that they need to leave for dinner, and Mauricio takes offense when Lisa says there’s a lot going on in her life, yet she doesn’t want to talk about any of it. Mauricio wants Taylor to back him up to Kyle that Lisa was being strange, but Taylor has no idea what Mauricio is talking about. Then again, Taylor hasn’t been the most perceptive person during the past few episodes.
All in all, this was a light, fun episode, which is what we needed after the past few tense ones. It’s always nice to see Yolanda with her kids, and it was a relief that Brandi and the other ladies enjoyed the art gallery while making plans to hang out in Vegas. It was also great that Brandi and Marisa got a chance to bond — although we’re skeptical as to how long that friendship will last.
And now we can’t wait for next week’s episode, when we’ll get to see the ladies show off their pole-dancing skills! In the meantime, we could use a drink — anything but a single malt scotch.
