The Lying Game’s Allie Gonino Spills on Laurel’s Love Triangle With Jordan and Mads — Exclusive

As the perky and precocious Laurel Mercer on The Lying Game, Allie Gonino has also found plenty of opportunity to showcase her musical skills. Her band, The Good Mad, has appeared in several episodes of the ABC Family show.

The folk-tinged group performed recently at the “Bands for Beds” fundraiser to raise money for Bethlehem Parents Primary School in Uganda. Hosted by Lying Game co-star Charisma Carpenter, Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Allie at the charitable event to chat about music and the fate of Laurel’s love life in Season 2 of The Lying Game.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What’s it like singing on the show?
Allie Gonino: Honestly, I can’t even tell what’s quote unquote real life and what’s quote unquote, art anymore. It’s like my worlds are blending together and it’s really wonderful. It’s surreal that I was even given the opportunity to play my own music on the show. I just feel like that never happens so I feel very lucky.

How much more will we see of you singing on the show coming up?
The first two episodes of the season that have already aired, we played some music on those and I think there’s only in this next block there’s only one other time that I performed again.

What else can you tell us about Laurel and what’s going to happen?
Um, without giving too much away, she gets more involved with the drama and the mystery of everything. She starts to suspect something is up with Sutton because she’s just going back and forth between these polar opposites, being like really rude one minute and really happy and supportive the next so she does some digging of her own and things happen.

What about the plot with Jordan? He’s heavily flirting with her!
I just feel so sorry for Laurel because you know Rebecca is the one who told him to go after her for her own selfish lying games, but Laurel really does like Jordan and has a bit of a crush on him. So on the next episode on Tuesday, there will be a very visible love triangle between Jordan, Mads, and Laurel.

Oh, okay! Well, do you want her to have a love interest — whether it’s him or not?
Um, maybe in the next season. I really want her — it would be great if she found out about the twins and it would great if she sort of was instrumental in getting the family back together or something. I just want her to focus on like the fam for a while.

Well, why is she so determined to reunite her parents?
I mean, it’s all she’s ever known and I think Laurel is not a very dramatic person. She doesn’t play games and I think she sees both sides of the coin. She’s a very forgiving and patient person and even though she knows what her dad did is wrong, I think she just wants the best for both her parents and probably a little bit selfishly, she wants them to be together because then it won’t throw off her world.

Jordan hooked up with Mads. What do you think will happen — will she find out about that?
Oh, yeah. Um, Laurel and Jordan go on a date and she really starts to like him. She’ll get let down. Yeah, unfortunately. [Makes a face] But she’s a strong chick. Laurel moved on so quickly from Justin. I mean, I did not move on that quickly from my first boyfriend [laughs]! She’s just like a strong chick — all right, you’re gone, bye! On to the next!

Are you dating anyone yourself?
[Smiles] I prefer to keep my personal life personal.
