Michelle Obama Stuns in Red Inaugural Ball Gown By Jason Wu: All the Details!
Clearly designer Jason Wu knows how to make women look great — especially Michelle Obama! Otherwise, the First Lady would never have chosen the designer to create her ruby red, long halter gown with velvet details for Monday night’s Inaugural Ball — again. The Taiwan-born fashion designer first made headlines in 2009 when the FLOTUS chose his white, one strap full-length dress for her husband’s first Inaugural Ball. The designer seems to be Mrs. Obama’s formal favorite, as she debuted her second-term look last night in a Wu original, created just for her. Wu describes the feeling of getting chosen, yet again, on CBS This Morning, “When I saw it, I was just floored. I just couldn’t believe that she chose me for the second time. I am so proud of it.”
And proud he should be! While Jason admits there were a number of sketches for the dress, there was only one actually made. And when it came time to pick a color, the designer had one thought. ”Last time, she didn’t [make suggestions], but this time I said, ‘I think red is a really good color’ and they said, ‘Well, Mrs. Obama thinks red is a good color too. I guess we were in sync from the beginning.” As the world saw at the Inaugural Ball on Monday night, great minds do think alike! Source:Us Weekly, CBS This Morning
