Beyonce: Giving Birth Made Me More Comfortable Expressing “Sensuality” With Jay-Z
Beyonce is always making headlines, but unlike some stars her age, it’s usually for good stuff!
This week is no different — between her smoking hot, post-baby pose on the cover of the February issue of GQ, and her stellar performance of the National Anthem at this week’s Presidential Inauguration (we don’t care if it was pre-taped, we all know girlfriend can sing), B always carries herself with elegance, grace, and a whole lot of self confidence. According to the first-time mom, giving birth her first daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, helped increase that confidence and ignited a closer connection in her marriage to hip hop mogul Jay-Z.
The 31-year-old told GQ, “When I gave birth, that was the first time I truly let go and surrendered. And expressing that excitement and that sensuality and the connection I have with my husband — I’m a lot more comfortable with that now.” When faced with hurtful rumors about whether or not she carried her baby, Beyonce says, “It’s not personal to me, and it comes along with the job but the lack of respect — people will just go too far sometimes.” Fortunately, she seems to have a pretty thick skin and an ever present sense of independence. “I was independent before I met my husband. I’ve seen, growing up, when a woman or a man in a relationship — it doesn’t matter which one — doesn’t feel confident, they feel a bit trapped.” And here’s the part we hope our own daughters learn from Mama B: “You self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.” Unless, of course, that kind of self-discovery comes from someone as precious as your own child. Source:GQ
