Is Nashville the TV Show Filmed in Nashville?

Inevitably, someone was bound to ask the obvious: Is Nashville actually filmed in the Tennessee city from which it draws its namesake?

The answer is a resounding yes!

USA Today profiled the show’s effect on the economy of the Music City, explaining that filming in Nashville has helped create jobs and has to potential to promote tourism in the long-term. About 125 to 150 locally employed crew members typically work on set, and nearly 400 Tennessee vendors are being utilized by the show’s producers.

Many scenes were filmed in local haunts, and residents have even given up their homes for the sake of filming.

For instance, scenes set at the home of Rayna (Connie Britton) were initially shot at the home of Sylvia Roberts in Belle Meade; subsequent episodes have been filmed on an identical set recreated on a soundstage.

Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar’s (Sam Palladio) magical duet of “If I Didn’t Know Better” from the pilot episode was shot onsite at the Bluebird Cafe. But since then, a replica of the the club was built to accommodate frequent filming for the show.

Now that Nashville has been picked up for a full season, additional filming will take place early next year and an estimated $44 million will be spent on production in Tennessee.

Sounds like an exciting time to be living in Nashville!
