Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Spoilers: Jessica Capshaw on Arizona’s Phantom Limb Syndrome

As the previews show, Season 9, Episode 12: "Walking on a Dream" will spend a lot of time on Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw), who will start to suffer from phantom leg syndrome.

What can we expect from this plot line? Jessica Capshaw recently spoke to TV Guide, and she dished on what we'll see this week.

What is it? "The syndrome is actually that you feel pain, at times excruciating, in the limb that you actually no longer have," Jessica explained to TV Guide, adding that it's going to "threaten [Arizona's] ability to work."

How does Arizona deal? "It's about the connection between your mind and your body, and there are different therapies that you can go through to try and come to terms with it," Jessica explained. However, Arizona is going to start the episode "not wanting to deal with it," which means she's going to try to go to work as usual. Hmmmm ... Probably not a great idea.

Who will help her? As we see in this sneak peek, Arizona is going to turn to Owen (Kevin McKidd) for help. She doesn't want to lay her burden on Callie, and Owen ends up being helpful because "he recognizes in her what he recognizes in a lot of his military buddies and amputees, so he ends up helping her to find therapies that might make it easier."
