James Franco Doesn’t Care If You Think He’s Gay — Just Don’t Bully Him
James Franco was an adorkable teen heartthrob on Freaks and Geeks, but it sounds like his own high school experience was a lot less cool.
"In high school these girls got mad at me and so they spread this rumor that I was having a gay relationship with one of my closest friends," James told MTV News. "And they even made up a little dance they would do in the girl's locker room about me being gay. I still don't know what the dance was."
So when he became famous and people started wondering about his sexuality, "[i]t wasn't like it was anything new," James continued. "And in fact, it wasn't something that frightened me, like if people think that, it's fine. I really don't care."
He is admittedly very interested in sexual themes and — whatever he does in his personal life — he's clearly comfortable exploring topics most people would feel awkward about. So good for him for making it all seem like no big deal. And we all have high school mean girl bullying stories to share, so it's almost refreshing to hear even James Franco wasn't able to escape them.
