In many minds, rehab is synonymous with addiction. But when country singer LeAnn Rimes entered a rehabilitation facility in August 2012, she insisted was only there to combat stress and anxiety.
"I'm happy and healthy. I just want to be happier and healthier more consistently," she told People at the time. "I don't want to wake up and not truly be enjoying my life and these amazing things around me.”
When you consider what LeAnn was going through, stress rehab doesn’t sound all that crazy. Her marriage to Eddie Cibrian began as an affair, which isn’t ideal for any relationship. She was also under passive-aggressive Twitter attack from Eddie’s ex, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’Brandi Glanville.
"I think it's really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook," LeAnn said. "And it's hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don't even know says about you. As much as you said you don't want it to penetrate, it does, because you're human."
Adding to LeAnn’s troubles was major insecurity over her marriage. "She's been stressed about always being called a homewrecker and also worried that Eddie is cheating on her,” a friend of hers toldUs Weekly. “She's been on a downward spiral.”
Not everyone was buying the “stress and anxiety” claim, though. After LeAnn left rehab, the press got hold of an email between Brandi and Eddie, in which Brandi accused LeAnn of being addicted to adderall, laxatives, and alcohol. A disastrous appearance on The X-Factor didn’t help matters, though LeAnn adamantly denied she was drunk during her performance.
