American Idol Ratings Still Demolish the Competition Despite Another Dip
Let’s face it -- even after 12 seasons, it’s still good to be American Idol. With a seemingly built-in cushion that separates Idol from the competition, it can still take a dip in the ratings and come out on top.
As THR reports, American Idol ratings “topped another Wednesday for Fox with a 5.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 16 million viewers.” As the entertainment site also points out, Idol was down 16% compared to the second Wednesday from last season, but that was still impressive compared to the 29% “year-over-year drop.”
A shared second place went to CBS and ABC, but it was a distant second, with an average rating of 2.4 with adults.
What’s the moral of the story? American Idol 2013 has some wiggle room when it comes to remaining the ratings juggernaut it’s always been. With the new panel of judges seeming to grow on viewers, the possibilities are endless.
Of course, TV viewers are a fickle bunch so things could change but, as it stands, it looks like those who were predicting the show’s demise after American Idol Season 12 will have to eat their words.
