Ashton Kutcher Hospitalized For Two Days Due to “Fruitarian” Diet to Play Steve Jobs in Film

Who knew Ashton Kutcher was such a method actor?

The 34-year-old film star tells reporters at Sundance that he tried to learn as much about Apple founder Steve Jobs as he could in order to portray him in the new film jOBS, opening in theaters in April.

This even meant that Ashton adopted Steve's "fruitarian diet," which entailed consuming only fuits, nuts, and seeds, and avoiding all animal products, vegetables, and grains.

However, Ashton acknowledges that this diet "can lead to some serious problems," which the actor learned the hard way.

The Two and a Half Men star says he himself "ended up in the hospital two days before we started shooting the movie," thanks to the extreme diet.

"I was, like, doubled over in pain, and my pancreas levels were completely out of whack, which was completely terrifying, considering everything," Ashton says, referring to the fact that Steve died in 2011 of pancreatic cancer.

As for the fact that he's playing a beloved icon like Steve Jobs, Ashton says, "It's terrifying!"

A note to Ashton: Just because you're playing the guy who started Apple, doesn't mean you should eat only apples.
