The Vampire Diaries

Does Damon Salvatore Die in Vampire Diaries Season 4? Fan Question of the Day?

Ever since it was spilled that someone will die in the second half of The Vampire Diaries Season 4, rumors and speculation have been swirling. We’ve wondered if Caroline (Candice Accola) or Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) or Bonnie (Kat Graham) might be Mystic Falls’ latest victim, but, we must admit, we rarely thought about Stefan (Paul Wesley), Elena (Nina Dobrev), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Why? Because they are the leads, the points in the main triangle, the components of the Salvatore sandwich! But lately, there’s been a lot of chatter on Twitter that the elder Salvatore is doomed.

Here’s why we can’t ignore it: Silas. The ancient witch that Shane (David Alpay) wants to unleash upon the world is extremely powerful and can bring back people from the dead. If one of the main three gets killed in the process of cure-hunting or witch-raising, then Silas can resurrect him or her. Loophole!

Kat Graham said the death will “completely alter everything." If Damon (or Elena or Stefan) dies, he might not come back as a zombie, but it could fundamentally change his character.

In any event, Ian Somerhalder has a six-year contract with TVD, and considering how loyal (and vocal) his fan base is, there’s no way the show would permanently kill off Damon. Ditto for Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley.
