Once Upon a Time: Should Peter Pan Appear on the Show?
The many magical worlds of Once Upon a Time are chock-full of characters we know from fairy tales, folklore, and even fictional novels, and we love meeting them all on our favorite fairy tale show.
In that spirit, each week we're going to take a moment to talk about a character from fiction that we'd like to see see on the show. To begin, we've picked a character on everyone's mind: Peter Pan.
Why we want to see him: Oh, let us count the ways. We already have an awesome Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), so it seems only right that Peter should appear to fight his foe. Plus, Peter Pan, though not a character from a fairy tale, is an iconic part of the Disney lineup.
On top of that, Peter is thematically fascinating when put into the OUAT context. The cursed characters were stuck in a state of perpetual arrested development until Emma (Jennifer Morrison) rescued them — Peter Pan, on the other hand, voluntarily seeks out a life where he never has to grow up. The OUAT writers could do interesting things with that parallel.
How they could put a twist on the story: The writers always like to change up the stories we think we know. Peter Pan seems like an easy character to do that with. They could give him all sorts of complex backstories to explain why he went to Neverland — including making him a character we already know (perhaps Baelfire).
