American Idol 2013 Auditions: Best and Worst of Week 3!

Go ahead and call us fickle, but we just couldn’t choose a winner for “Best Audition” on American Idol this week, so we declared a tie. First up...

Adam Sanders -- The emotional 19-year-old, who Keith Urban named as a standout during the preseason, shocked the pants off the judges with his amazing rendition of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind.” Fortunately for him, he got beyond the insult of implying Mariah Carey was of the same era as soul icon Etta, but she did say she appreciated the compliment in the comparison. In the end, the judges gave him a big ole yes, with Keith saying, “Abso-freakin’-lutely.” If you are curious to know if he made the Top 40, check out our American Idol spoilers list here!

And then there was...

Brianna Oakley -- The curly-haired beauty from Antioch, California, was mercilessly teased after she went on Maury’s Most Talented Kids. She got the last laugh, however, with her extremely moving version of Patti Griffin’s “Up to the Mountain”. As Nicki Minaj said, “This, today, is your moment” and “the stars aligned” to bring her before them. With all the glowing reviews, we just have one question -- as with Adam, why don’t we see her name on our spoiler list? Hmmm...the mysteries of Hollywood Week will soon be revealed.

And for the “Worst Audition” of the week, we’d have to say contestant Anastacia Freeman ran away with it. Taking deep breaths and showing such deep emotion before she entered the audition room, the viewers were likely expecting something big and terrific. What we got, however, was big and bad. Very, very bad. Her rendition of “Unbreak My Heart” made Randy ask her in earnest who could have possibly recommended that she audition. When she said God told her to audition after Phillip Phillips won last year, the judges seemed to fall silent. Deeply disgruntled as she left her audition, she made sure to get in a dig when she said she thinks Nicki worships the devil. Riiight.

Which auditions were your faves and least faves?
