Should William Shatner Do DWTS 2013? Tom Bergeron Says Yes
Who cares about Lance Armstrong or Lindsay Lohan? Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron wants to watch Captain Kirk’s moves on the ballroom floor. (DWTS is the new final frontier!) Tom was recently on The View, and said he’d like to see Star Trek icon William Shatner, 81, as a DWTS competitor. To emphasize this point, Tom tweeted, “Just gave @WilliamShatner a shout out while taping Friday's @theviewtv. Still want you to do DWTS, Bill!” Star Trek: Voyager actress Jeri Ryan replied with full support: "omg, I would pay good money to see that. GOOD. MONEY." Tom joked to her, "I'm happy to accept bribes or launder cash if necessary!" Shatner also weighed in himself, telling Tom, "Thank you for the shout out on @theviewtv DWTS's??? I think my speed is more like AFV! Stay in touch though. My best, Bill."
Aww! He’s a bit long in the tooth for DWTS, but he definitely fits the “star” qualification, and he’d be fun to watch. The guy’s just crazy in a good way. Besides, DWTS often casts a mix of younger people (sometimes more “unknown” celebs) and more established stars like Shatner.
What do you think? Should The Powers That Be call Shatner and try to talk him into dancing on Season 16, or should he just watch from home like the rest of us?
