Castle Review: What Did You Think of Season 5, Episode 13: “Recoil”?
Senator Bracken, the man responsible Johanna Beckett’s murder, is once again a part of Kate Beckett’s life in Castle Season 5, Episode 13, “Recoil" — and this time the tables are turned. It all started with a young girl named Melanie. The victim was shot in a parking garage and burned in a fire pit barrell.
Despite Beckett’s first instinct to blame the corrupt politician for the crime, it turns out the killer was after Bracken as well. So now our favorite detective is forced to protect the one man she’s vowed to destroy.
And naturally, she’s struggling against her most basic instinct to take down the villain. The detective withholds a key piece of evidence and allows the killer to escape. But will she really let this new villain kill her no. 1 nemesis?
Luckily, Becks has her main man Castle to help her work through this tough decision. But the mystery writer isn’t able to fix the gnawing feeling that something just isn’t right in the investigation.
Beckett and co. bring in a heartbroken father of one of Bracken’s victims. This mentally deranged, grieving father has been framed for Melanie’s murder and for attempting to murder the senator.
But Beckett thinks the setup is too simple and at the last second saves Bracken from an exploding car. Not only is this dastardly villain alive, but he looks like even more of a hero in the public’s eye.
Our girl, however, can be patient, and she plans on nobly waiting for her perfect moment to strike.
