Dot-Marie Jones Dishes On Glee At It Gets Better Concert — Exclusive

Glee fans already know what a big heart Coach Beiste has. It turns out the role isn’t much of a stretch for portrayer Dot-Marie Jones, who is just as sensitive and compassionate as her character.

Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with the Dot at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles on February 1. The Glee star was there for the Gay Men’s Chorus of L.A.’s performance of It Gets Better, a touring anti-bullying musical.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Why did you want to be here tonight?
Dot-Marie Jones: To support the community, and just to be a part of it is very honoring. I'm on a show that every single episode represents some kind of diversity, no matter what it is. I'm a big lover. A lot of people misrepresent me. Because I'm big, they assume I'm mean. I grew up my whole life with that. I'm just here to spread the love.

What's coming up for Coach Bieste?
I just found out I'm coming up in Episode 16. And honestly, I don't have a script yet. I was in last week, episode 11.

Will you be at the wedding?
No. I'm very sad about that. I never even read the script for it.

What else is happening for you?
I have a film potentially coming up that's on hold right now. But hopefully it will be back up and shooting this month. I play a federal agent. It's a small deal, but my scene would be with Kyra Sedgwick, so I just hope it gets going.

Are you getting more scripts now that you're on Glee?
DJ: I wish more, because I'd love to get into more films. I definitely want to do more animation. I love doing voices.
