Bachelor 2013: What Is Selma Alameri’s Ethnicity?

Sean Lowe will finally take Selma Alameri on a one-on-one date during tonight's episode of The Bachelor Season 17, but don't expect things to get steamy! Despite the fact that Sean is known for locking lips with his ladies on the first date, Selma will turn down his exquisite lips thanks to her religious beliefs and conservative upbringing.

“Selma is Iraqi," Chris Harrison tells Entertainment Weekly. "She was born Muslim. I don’t believe she is now, but her family is, and they’re very strict and very conservative. While she doesn’t necessarily have the same beliefs as her family, she definitely respects her family and their wishes. Just being on the show, as you’ll see, is a huge deal for her."

The Islamic culture has a few rules and regulations when it comes to dating, and making out on camera is frowned upon. "To date out loud is not custom, obviously," Chris continues. "When you cross the physicality of the show — emotions and kissing and where it goes — they have to deal with that."

Considering that Sean is a super-religious person, we have a feeling he'll be completely understanding of Selma's ground rules. It's called air-kissing, guys. We just invented it, and it's fabulous.
