American Idol 2013 Spoilers: Which Golden Ticket Holder Won’t Be Going to Hollywood Week?

Sometimes receiving one of those desperately desired golden tickets doesn’t guarantee you’ll actually make it to American Idol Hollywood Week. No matter how badly a singer wants to be the next American Idol winner, life happens and a rare few of them just have to let the dream go... for now at least.

Such is the case for 17-year-old MacKenzie Wasner, who auditioned for American Idol 2013 in Chicago, according to Mjsbigblog. The sweetheart country girl wowed judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson with her performance of Vince Gill’s “Whenever You Come Around” and seemed a strong possible candidate for the Top 40 at least, if not the Top 10. Unfortunately, it looks like the judges (and the viewers) have seen the last of MacKenzie for the time being.

MacKenzie, who is the daughter of country star Vince Gill’s keyboard player Pete Wasner, posted a note to her Facebook page stating she would not be continuing on in the competition and going to the American Idol Hollywood Week rounds this season.

“Hello Everyone!!

First off, I just want to thank you all for your amazing support. It was so much fun getting to sing for the celebrity judges on American Idol!!!! It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing and they were all so kind and gracious, it was truly exciting.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I will not be competing in the finals in Hollywood. While I’m disappointed, nothing will stop me from continuing to pursue my dream of entertaining everyone through my music. I’ll update my Facebook page to let you know about my plans – and I hope I get to meet all of you and sing for you! I can’t wait to see who is the next American Idol!! :) ”

So far neither MacKenzie or American Idol 2013 reps have commented on exactly why she was unable to continue her journey on the show. Perhaps her connections to Vince Gill were some sort of disqualification. Or maybe she just got a better offer. Then again, it’s possible she just wasn’t ready for the spotlight. Perhaps her parents thought better of all the drama in her future if she kept going... who knows.

Do you think MacKenzie Wasner would have made the American Idol Season 12 Top 10 if she hadn’t left the competition?
