Frankie Ford Has an Emotional Elimination During American Idol 2013 Hollywood Week

Some eliminations aren’t easy to watch. Frankie Ford, a college dropout who sings on New York trains, first won the judges over with his “Sweet Dreams” cover in the Season 12 auditions, but he didn’t advance any farther than Hollywood Week.

During the Group Round, Frankie teamed up with Papa Peachez, Adam Sanders, and Charles Allen. It was clear he was outmatched in musical knowledge — he admitted he wasn’t familiar with a lot of the lingo. He also bickered with the other guys and blamed some of his problems on asthma problems. Before performing their rendition of “American Boy” by Estelle in front of the judges, Frankie broke down in tears.

After it was over and the rest of the guys advanced, Frankie stormed out of the building. In tears, he ranted “This ain’t right” and “They will not deny me.” He almost claimed his teammates sabotaged him before insisting that he’ll be back to win American Idol next year.
