Shaq Dishes on Why He Loves Beyonce and Hosting With Nick Cannon

NBA superstar, beloved TV personality, and best Beyonce lip-syncer ever Shaquille O'Neal really is everything you could want in an American icon.

Now he's teaming up with Nick Cannon to host Cartoon Network's Third Annual Hall of Game Awards on Monday, February 11, 2013, and Wetpaint Entertainment had a chance to chat with the b-ball star about the show, what it's like to work with Nick Cannon, and why he was so into Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show.

This is Shaq's second year hosting the Hall of Game Awards, a kids’ award show where fans vote on their favorite athletes and athletic feats of the year. What brought him back again?

"I'm a big kid at heart," he explained. "I relate to children very well. I have six children of my own." He added that "this year the show's going to be even more exciting. More people have been added, more super stars."

Shaq's also very excited to work with Nick Cannon, who he's known ever since Nick "was a youngster."

"He brings a different type of humor to the show, a different type of audience to the show. We're just two funny guys working on the show, bringing nothing but greatness to the show."

Speaking of funny, what was that Beyonce lip-syncing video all about?

Shaq, who has been friends with Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, since he was 19, explained, "[The Super Bowl halftime show] was actually my first time seeing her perform. She did a fabulous job, and that's always been one of my favorite songs. She did such a great job that I just had to show her respect."

See, Beyonce was so magnetic that everyone, no matter how famous, felt the urge to sing along.

Catch Shaq and Nick in action on Monday, February 11 at 7/6c on Cartoon Network.
