Carrie Underwood Says 2013 Grammy Awards Bling “Worth More Than Me!”
Forbes recently revealed the list of top earners of the American Idol alums for 2012, and the show’s golden girl, Carrie Underwood, came in second (behind Kelly Clarkson), earning a cool $5 million. It’s certainly impressive, but it pales in comparison to what the jewels she donned at last night’s 2013 Grammy Awards are worth. According to Yahoo!, the stunning 381-carat necklace designed by Johnathon Arndt, which contained oval, pear, marquise, and round cut diamonds, is worth $31 million. Gulp!
Can you imagine having something that expensive around your neck? It certainly wasn’t lost on Carrie, who joked with Ryan Seacrest, saying, “It’s heavy on my soul. I’m worried something’s going to tackle me.”
As Yahoo! pointed out, the blinding bling worn by Carrie Underwood last night was far and above the most expensive in Red Carpet history, with Sofia Vergara wearing $5 million worth of jewels at the 2012 Golden Globes, and former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’s $3 million Harry Winston earrings the year before. Seems a mere pittance in comparison.
Carrie was definitely one of the best dressed at last night’s awards in a stunning black and grey strapless Roberto Cavalli dress. Her hair was elegant and simply done, with loose, romantic curls that allowed the jewels to really take center stage. Looking like a million, scratch that, 31 million bucks last night, Carrie had a lot to live up to. As usual, she did not dissapoint, taking home another Grammy Award and giving a spectacular guest performance as well.
As if the bling wasn’t enough, Carrie’s ivory Theia LED dress she wore during her performance was gorgeously captivating, mostly because stunning visual images were scrolled across it throughout the medley.
“I just like to stand still and sing sometimes. So this was the best way to do that, and it still created something visually attention-capturing and beautiful” Carrie told reporters. “We just wanted it to be artful and dramatic.” Mission accomplished!
