Real World/Road Rules Star Mark Long Reveals New Stay-Fit Secret!
Welcome to Fresh Paint, where we introduce you to Hollywood's hottest up-and-coming stars! After competing with countless buff 20-somethings on MTV’s grueling Real World/Road Rules Challenge’s throughout the years, it’s no wonder 40-year-old Mark Long — a member of the very first Road Rules cast — was looking for a new way to stay energized. Since energy drinks just weren’t doing it for him, Mark and some friends developed their own product: Pocket Protein, a caffeine-free, sugar-free energizing shot. He spoke with Wetpaint Entertainment about his new venture — and tells us if we’ll be seeing him on a new Challenge anytime soon! Wetpaint Entertainment: So how did the idea for Pocket Protein come about? Mark Long: Me and three college buddies [with whom] I went to the University of Florida had been talking about health, and turning 40, and staying in shape. It’s really hard to do when you don’t have a lot of time, and all the energy shots out there are just basically filled with caffeine. We wanted [Pocket Protein] to be as easy as taking a shot but filled with the good stuff. We partnered with two doctors, and it just took off from there... What is it exactly? And who can take it? It’s a super-quick source of protein. It’s only two ounces and doesn’t need refrigeration, so you can take it anywhere on the go. And anyone can take it — from kids to seniors. When do you take it? I take it in the morning with a carb source so it keeps me fuller longer through the day. I also take it after I work out because I want to get that protein in my system right away. Does it give you enough energy to consider returning to a Real World/Road Rules Challenge? If they need ratings, they know to call me. If they want to stick with average ratings, I’m not down. I’d always consider it. I won't do back-to-back Challenge’s but if I hear through the grapevine that it’s somewhere cool and the format’s cool, I’d consider it.
