Nashville Music From Episode 13: “There’ll Be No Teardrops Tonight”

In Nashville Season 1, Episode 13, “There’ll Be No Teardrops Tonight,” Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) makes out with Liam McGuinness (Michiel Huisman), only to learn later that her husband is cheating on her with Peggy (augh, PEGGY). Also, Juliette Barnes decides she needs a major brand revamp, so she fires all of her backup dancers and makes bedroom eyes at Deacon(Charles Esten). Last but not least, Scarlett(Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) still aren’t making out (what is this? Breaking Amish?), but they are singing melancholy songs together, so at least there’s that. Here is the best (and only full-length) song from the rollercoaster episode:

Song: “Casino”
Songwriters: Natalie Hemby Morgan Hayes
Performed by: Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio
Buy the song on iTunes here!
Lyrics:
Like a coin
I was tossed into a wishing fountain
I was only one of a thousand
Looking for a little fortune

The bright lights
I was taken in by the spotlight

Luck wasn’t built by the Monte Carlo
Just like love never promise tomorrow
And you were only looking to borrow

Watch the whole story about the song, narrated by songwriter Natalie Hemby, here.
