Grey’s Anatomy Recap: Season 9, Episode 15: “Hard Bargain”
The drama at Seattle Grace-Mercy West reached a boiling point on Grey's AnatomySeason 9, Episode 15: "Hard Bargain.” Remember how last week Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) were competing to become the new face of the hospital? Well, it looks like they both lost that title — to Derek (Patrick Dempsey)! But Derek's not so happy with the giant posters of his face that have been plastered all over the hospital — and the pretend surgeries he’s forced to do for photo ops. McDreamy might be the face of the New Seattle Grace-Mercy West, but that doesn't mean he likes it. He, along with Callie (Sara Ramirez), tries to convince the docs affected by the lawsuit to band together and buy the hospital in order to keep it out of Pegasus’ hands. Too bad Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) doesn't want to give up her and Mark’s $15 million (each). But are her reasons justifiable? After all, a lot of unfortunate accidents happen to the residents of Seattle Grace-Mercy West — so shouldn’t she want to protect her family’s future? Of course, there’s also Cristina, who’s so wrapped up in Owen (Kevin McKidd) and her sexual euphoria to care about the hospital’s integrity. Her man’s just trying to do the best he can with what little he has left — and it’s not going to be easy for him. The nurses are ready to leave, the interns are afraid to stay (see ya, Stephanie), and one wrong move could jeopardize the entire sell. Yeah, we definitely wouldn’t want to be in Owen’s shoes. But when things get out of control for the docs, Derek seeks advice from his financial advisor. The five docs need to resign from their positions and form their own management company to buy the hospital. Unfortunately, Owen has no idea what is going on — and it needs to stay that way since he’s legally obligated to spill the beans on anything that could jeopardize the sale. If he knows about their plan to buy the hospital, he could get fired... and sued. Meanwhile, April (Sarah Drew) awkwardly turns to Jackson for romance advice. How is she going to explain that she’s a born again virgin? Now, that’s an awkward date conversation — though not quite as awkward as the sexual tension between Alex and Jo.
