Vampire Diaries OMG Moments in Season 4, Episode 14: Kat Came Back
We love those moments on The Vampire Diaries that make us gasp, pause, and rewind — and Season 4, Episode 14, “Down the Rabbit Hole” is chock full of them. Here are the scenes that left our jaws agape. 5. Katherine (Nina Dobrev) returns Turns out the lurker on Silas Island — the one who killed an islander to save Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), the one who took down Shane’s (David Alpay) witch — was none other than the Lady Called Kat. The Salvatore’s sire appeared, as she always does, at the most inconvenient of times. The first item on her agenda was to knock out Elena (Nina Dobrev) so that she could replace her. Next Katherine vamped into Silas’s crypt. She arrived just in time to save Jeremy from Hunter No. 2. But then she blew her disguise when she forgot to show compassion for a wounded Bonnie (Kat Graham), who lay bleeding in a corner. 4. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) does two selfless things “I’m going to kill you, then I’m going to get to that damned cure and give it to the girl I love,” Damon declared before he attacked Galen Vaughn. Sir Salvatore lost his battle with Hunter No. 2. But that didn’t stop him from sending Stefan (Paul Wesley) on to finish the job. “Get your ass down the well and help Elena,” he said. Then, weak and injured, Damon crawled over to Original sister Rebekah (Claire Holt) and dug the stakes out of her body. And he doesn’t even like her! 3. Shane gets his His knock out came like a slow one-two punch. When Bonnie cast her spell, the walls of the well shook and crumbled, raining boulders. One took down the supernatural PhD. “I need a hand. My leg’s broken,” Professor Shane cried after the dust cleared. Poised to enter Silas’s chamber, Bonnie and Jeremy paused. The witch gave her former mentor a dirty look before saying, “It’s best you stay off it then.” That was the first blow. The second came minutes later when Stefan entered the chamber to find Shane trapped. “Did you know this whole time that there was only one cure?” Stefan asked. “No, how could I?” Shane replied, before adding that everything he’d done had been out of love for his wife. “Well then you know what it’s like to have hope,” Stefan said. “And you know what it feels like to lose it.” He walked away leaving Shane alone, and disabled on the dark cave’s floor — within a stone’s throw of his crazy promised land. 2. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) bid adieu Blondie and the jock were on the clock. You see, a newly-free Klaus (Joseph Morgan) had shown a bit mercy by giving the couple some time — a head start he called it — before he planned to stalk and kill the last living Lockwood. The vampire and the hybrid used their last precious moments well. “This isn’t goodbye, this is ‘until we find a way,’” Tyler said. Sitting on the Gilberts’ front porch, he tried to stop Caroline’s tears. “We’re immortal, remember. We will find a way.” “But what if we don’t?” Caroline asked. She went on to make Tyler promise that he would forget her and live as normal a life as a part-vampire, part-werewolf, man-on-the-run could. “I will live a happy life without you,” Tyler lied. “I will forget all about you. And I will never, ever think about you again.” He took Caroline’s face in his hands and they kissed — one last smooch before fear for his life forced him to walk away.
1. Jeremy dies (again) How many times can a boy kick the bucket? Seriously. First Katherine cut Jeremy’s arm to wake Silas. Seconds later she ripped open the boy’s jugular and turned him into the ancient’s main course. Silas raised a desiccated arm to hold the hunter’s throat to his lips. He drank quickly. Then he broke Jer’s neck and dropped his body on the floor. Lil Jer fell with his eyes open. Does the Gilbert family live-forever ring work on hunters — who are somewhat supernatural?
