American Idol 2013 Ratings Keep Falling, CBS Comedies Win Thurs Night
American Idol 2013 ratings continue to fall dramatically, with Thursday night’s Hollywood Rounds finale ratings even worse than the night before. The show dropped from a 4.3 market share in the 18-49 age group to a seriously pitiful 3.6.
If you think that’s bad, consider that Wednesday night’s Hollywood Week Round 3 show was the worst American Idol ratings for the series on a Wednesday since July 10, 2002, according to Zap2it.com. Ouch!
We’re starting to think this could actually be one of the best seasons in years (no, really), but the rest of TV viewers don’t seem to agree with us on that.
FOX actually came in second in the ratings to CBS on Thursday night and only narrowly beat out ABC. Idol was beaten quite soundly by Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men in the 8 to 9 p.m. time slot.
However, we do have to note the overall TV ratings were down across the board, so perhaps Cupid had something to do with the Valentine’s Day plummet. Let’s examine the numbers:
CBS -- 13. 8 million viewers and an 8.4 rating/14 share in households FOX -- 8.75 million viewers and a 5 rating/3.8 share in households ABC -- 7.6 million viewers and a 5.0 rating/8 share in households NBC -- 3.5 million viewers and a 2.2 rating/4 share in households CW -- 1.9 million viewers and a 1.2 rating/2 share in households
There seems to be only a slight ratings variation from week to week, with CBS and FOX generally exchanging their spots on top. Alas, we wish people would join us in watching the American Idol season 12. There really is some great talent this year.
Regardless of the show’s continued weak showing this season, though, Idol still reigns (nearly) supreme in the overall show ratings.
