According to TMZ, Mary J. Blige has been hit with a tax lien, as she reportedly owes the state of New Jersey $901,769.65 in back taxes. This is just the latest financial problem for the singer — earlier this month she was sued for allegedly defaulting on a $500,000 bank loan. Last year, she was sued for allegedly defaulting on a $2.2 million bank loan and her charity, The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc., was sued for allegedly not paying back a $250,000 loan.
In addressing financial allegations against the charity, Mary said, "The lives of young women are at stake. I feel what they feel. I don't want them to suffer. I promised them something and I'm gonna deliver. Period. The problem is that I didn't have the right people in the right places doing the right things. This should have never been allowed to happen, but it did and now we are fixing it."
Maybe it’s time for Mary to compete on Dancing With the Stars. She can pick up a six-figure paycheck, maybe pull in some endorsements and work to get the whole money situation squared away. It may not solve every problem, but it might be a start. No?
