Sean Lowe Doesn’t Regret Sending Desiree Hartsock Home: “Not My Wife”

The Bachelor Season 17, Episode 8 rose ceremony was the most dramatic five minutes we’ve seen so far this season. Sean Lowe, faced with sending Catherine Giudici or Desiree Hartsock home, handed his final rose to Catherine — eliminating Desiree, and shocking even himself. During the emotional goodbye, Sean told Des, “I’m not sure I made the best decision — for you or for me,” and she assured him he was going to regret it. “I just want you to be happy,” she sobbed into his shoulder.

Sean confessed he prays before every rose ceremony, a ritual that usually brings him clarity, but that it didn’t help him make up his mind after the Hometown Dates. Months after Desiree’s exit, Sean gave an ominous interview to ESPN, wherein he defended his Bachelor Season 17 eliminations. “I know I have to break some girls' hearts and I'm put in that tough position. At the end of the day, I was making the best decisions for me."

Right after Desiree’s elimination aired, Sean took to Twitter to tell the world that he didn’t regret his decision. “She was great but I'm choosing the one who's best for me,” Sean tweeted. “Incredible woman but not my wife.”
