Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 20 Review: What Did You Think of “Hot Water”?

Another body went missing on tonight’s Pretty Little Liars (Season 3, Episode 20: “Hot Water”), and it doesn’t bode well for the Liars — or Ashley Marin.

But it wasn’t all drama. Love was in the air, and “Hot Water” saw some of our favorite couples kiss and make up (sorry Spoby fans, we’re not talking about Spencer and Toby). So what went down in Rosewood this week? Read on for Wetpaint Entertainment's review of the episode, and then rate it yourself!

Badassery must run in the Marin family because our fave Rosewood mom Ashley Marin ran over Detective Wilden! Yes, you read that correctly. It’s not like he didn’t deserve it. After he threatened Hanna (and acted like a total creep), Ashley did what any other mom would do. You see, Hanna told Wilden about the dirt they have on him — he knocked up Ali and was with her on the boat — he freaked. He doesn’t want that dirty little secret to leak. He might not have to worry about that anymore because when Ashley and Hanna went to go check on his body... it was gone!

This isn’t the first time a body has gone missing in Rosewood. We’re going to guess Ashley didn’t kill him, but she hopefully taught him a lesson. Did he run off like Jason did last week? (Emily said he’s now hiding low in Virginia.)

But it wasn’t all drama — love was in the air too! Ezra returned and confessed how much he’s missed her vegan food. Ultimately, the two made up... and made out. If only Ezra’s mom wasn’t such a conniving, well, you know what. She’s still trying to break them up, and now, she’s using the threat of Maggie and Ezra’s son to do so.

Meanwhile, Spencer is still bummed about Toby, and she too afraid to open up to the Liars. Aria tries to get her to open up (this is a great episode for Sparia fans), but it’s actually Wren who becomes Spence’s shoulder to cry on. But he wants to be more than friends — and he lets her know it. After a (romantic) dinner, the two kiss. Naturally, we have a lot of Spoby/Wrencer feelings.

However, they weren’t alone. It turns out the girl in the red coat (CeCe? Melissa? Ali?) was watching. Spencer tries to go after her, but no dice. When she gets back to the Hastings household, Melissa tells her she can spell Wren’s cologne on her. Uh oh. So Spence hops in the shower — only to be locked inside with scalding hot water! Good thing Aria was there to save her.

It looks like someone was trying to send Spencer a warning. But who? Spence seems to think it was Mona, so she tells Aria to call the girls; she’s finally ready to tell them about Toby’s secret.

As for Rosewood biggest liar CeCe, she’s skipping town. She says she’s afraid “she’s next.” But before she leaves, she tells Aria all about Ali’s last day — with Melissa. Seems like CeCe is trying to say Melissa is “A”. Do we believe her?
